On Sunday, 18th May, a dedicated team of twenty-five supporters laced up their running shoes and took on the challenge of the Hackney Half Marathon to raise money for BID.
Together, they raised an impressive £11,000 to help fund our vital work providing free legal advice to people locked up indefinitely in immigration detention centres across the UK.
The runners, proudly sporting BID’s signature bright blue running vests, joined a crowd of more than 24,000 participants who gathered in East London for the annual 13.1-mile race. With live bands, local DJs, and enthusiastic spectators lining the route, the atmosphere was electric from start to finish.
BID’s team ran with determination and passion, spurred on by the knowledge that their efforts would directly support some of the most vulnerable people in the UK’s immigration system.
For many of our runners, it was their first half marathon, while others were seasoned participants eager to combine their love of running with a cause they deeply believe in.
We want to say a huge thank you to every runner, donor, and supporter who made this possible.
If you haven't already sponsored the team, there is still time to donate here, and we'll spend every penny on getting people out of detention.
