Taking Liberties is a new exhibition exploring how immigration detention and reporting deprive people of their freedom, rights and autonomy.
Join us on 15th October at 6pm for the launch of Taking Liberties, a new exhibition exploring the ways in which immigration detention and reporting deprive people of their freedom, rights and autonomy.
Led and curated by people with lived experience, the exhibition explores the human impact of the immigration detention and reporting as well as the many ways people resist and create change.
The launch event will be an opportunity to experience the exhibition for the first time, take part in guided tours from the curators and contributors, and celebrate the creativity, resilience and resistance that have shaped this project.

About the exhibition
Led and curated by people with lived experience of the immigration system, the exhibition challenges the narratives and policies that dehumanise, isolate and criminalise people because of their immigration status.
This exhibition has evolved in response to the widespread dehumanisation of migrants culminating in far-right riots across the UK last year. In the face of violence, people across the UK stood with asylum seekers and migrants.
Our exhibition will reflect on the violence, racism and dehumanisation experienced by people in detention over the years whilst also celebrating and building collective resistance.
More than a space for learning, the exhibition creates opportunities to grow networks and amplify resistance.
The exhibition is open to visit Monday to Friday between 9am and 6pm at the Foundry, Vauxhall.

The exhibition is led by a steering group of people with experience of detention and reporting and is facilitated by Bail for Immigration Detainees and Migrants Organise.
