As the government pushes to expand detention and increase deportations, we're hoping to raise £15,000 to provide free legal advice and representation to help people get out of detention.

Evidence shows that detention is deeply harmful, and conditions are getting worse. Our research shows that most people we survey in detention do not have a lawyer, even though access to justice is essential to protect their rights.

At Bail for Immigration Detainees (BID), we provide free legal advice and representation to defend people’s right to liberty and family life. Through our advice line and casework, we help people get out of detention and reunite with their loved ones. We also work to challenge the system through strategic litigation, research, and campaigning.

Double Your Donation, Double Your Impact

From the 2nd - 9th December, we'll be taking part in the Big Give. Thanks to generous match funders, every £1 you donate will be doubled.

Here’s how your donation could help:

  • 📬 £5 → £10: We can send outreach packs to four people, including practical information about applying for bail and template letters.
  • 💬 £10 → £20: We can provide an expert interpreter for a 30-minute call to our advice line.
  • 🚄 £25 → £50: We can fund a return train ticket so we can deliver an in-person legal advice workshop at a detention centre.
  • 📞  £60 → £120: We can cover telephone costs for our advice line for a week, which handles over 8,000 calls a year from people in detention.
  • 📑 £100 → £200: We can fund expert legal research and advice for one complex case, helping a family separated by immigration detention.
  • 👶 £250 → £500: Just three of these donations could fund a life-changing expert report that safeguards a child by evidencing why their parent should not be deported.

By donating, you’ll be standing in solidarity with people at the sharpest end of the UK’s hostile immigration policy, ensuring they have free legal advice and representation to apply for bail.

Don’t miss your chance: Complete this form to get a reminder, and we’ll email you as soon as the campaign opens so you can give and make double the difference.
