BID is delighted to have won the 2010 JUSTICE Human Rights Award.  BID was nominated "for its tireless work on behalf of some of the most vulnerable, marginalised and maligned sections of our community - from providing assistance to over 2,000 people held in immigration detention to the key Supreme Court cases SK and WL".  

BID's Director, Celia Clark, accepted the award at a ceremony in central London. BID was also short listed for the Liberty Human Rights 'Long Walk' Award 2010 "for their steadfast support of immigration detainees, including the campaign against the detention of children and their families, which played a pivotal role in securing a Government commitment to end child detention in the UK". BID would like to thank all the pro bono barristers and other s without whom our work would not be possible, and dedicate the award to all immigration detainees in the UK struggling to exercise their rights without adequate publicly funded legal advice.
