About BID
Bail for Immigration Detainees is an independent charity that exists to challenge immigration detention in the UK. We work with asylum seekers and migrants, in removal centres and prisons, to secure their release from detention.
BID:
- Makes free applications for release from immigration detention for asylum seekers and migrants
- Publishes a Notebook on Bail which provides information to detainees to empower them to make their own applications for release
- Encourages legal representatives to make bail applications for their clients, by way of training and the 'Best Practice Guide to Challenging Immigration Detention'
- Carries out research and policy work to push for an end to the use of arbitrary immigration detention
BID is a registered charity set up in 1998, based in
London, Oxford and Portsmouth. BID has eight paid staff
and a large number of volunteers.
