12 July 2011 Press Statement
Link to urgent advice for clients of IAS (Immigration Advisory Service) from the administrator
Immigration legal advisors IAS (Immigration Advisory Service) announced on Monday 11th July 2011 that they have closed all their offices. IAS have been running some of the free legal advice clinics under the Detention Duty Advice scheme at Brook House IRC, Tinsley House IRC, and Lindholme IRC.
If you are a client of IAS you should follow THIS LINK to the IAS website for urgent advice on what to do with your legal case and any documents they have been holding for you. This link will take you to a long page that explains why IAS have closed. You should scroll down the page to find their instructions for clients.
If you are in detention and were a client of IAS you will need to find another immigration legal advisor. If you cannot afford to pay for a solicitor you should make an appointment with the Detention Duty Advice scheme by going to the detention centre library or speaking to a welfare officer in your centre.
