New BID bulletin on Section 4 applications for bail accommodation November 2010
BID issues a new Bulletin for detainees on applying for a Section 4 bail address, available here. This follows a new policy instruction for Section 4 staff on Section 4 bail accommodation applications issued by UKBA in October 2010, available here
The new policy instruction has resulted in changes in the way accommodation is allocated to detainees depending on how the risk of serious harm they pose to the public if released is assessed by UKBA. The new process is particularly relevant to detainees who have a criminal conviction, and new enquiries required by UKBA on level of risk will add to the length of time it takes to get a Section 4 address for many detainees.
